IP to Company API 0 open listings
discussion=https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49658194, title=Show HN: IP to Company API – turn any IP into business data, We run a marketplace and a couple of years ago we were looking for an IP to company API solution to test if we could generate additional revenues by serving high intent leads to our users. We tried many solutions, the first few that we implemented provided business data only for companies that had registered an IP, so for the vast majority of our visitors that are SMBs it didn't work. We found a couple of solutions that had great data sets and were able to unconver SMBs, but they were very expensive and required upfront payment and an annual commitment, which was not feasible for us as a small startup. After many months working as a side project, we launched our own API tool that is affordable for small startups or even indie developers that would like to use an IP to company API to test if they can monetize their platform or run real-time personalization. It comes with a free tier so anybody who is interested in trying it can set up an account and test it with real data.

Intent Based Infrastructure on Top of Terraform 0 open listings
discussion=https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49740408, title=Show HN: Intent Based Infrastructure on Top of Terraform, Hey everyone! I built a platform that works on top of Terraform to expose high level constructs you want to create in your infrastructure (intent) rather than actually dealing with cloud resources (typical terraform modules). I am looking for other enthusiasts to work on this project, and gather feedback. The problem I am trying to solve is complexity. Typically you make infra by either asking AI, or dealing with very low level resources that other people on your team might not fully understand. If you expose a higher level construct, people will only typically deal with a well understood graph of intent which is much easier to understand and reason about, without worrying about low level resources. It works by declaring a model graph that consists of simple nodes like App, Region, Environment, Service, Server, etc that you show your intent with. E.g. My infrastructure consists of 3 AWS accounts (QA, Staging, Prod), with 2 Regions in each, and 1 Environment, under which my Service X resides. The Octo library then converts those intent to actual cloud resources using your instructions. E.g. it would convert a Region node into a vpc + internet-gateway. Or an Environment into an ECS Cluster. It will also generate the Terraform code for each of these cloud resources that your intent wanted. You can then run this Terraform code normally and get your infrastructure. There is a lot more depth, features, and roadmap items to this. Happy to go in more detail.

Here's the link: https://old.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/1wa260h/lighthouse... I figured it would be interesting to have an interactive version of this which you can scroll around in and click on the light houses to get information about them. I've had a lot of fun going through each of the light houses and reading/following links to learn more about them. Hopefully some of you find this interesting as well.

discussion=https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49683332, title=Show HN: InterviewsRadar – Sell or find interview experiences, Hi HN, I’m Lewis, a student building InterviewsRadar as a side project. I built it to help people find someone who recently interviewed for a specific company and role, and have a conversation about the experience. You can post an experience you’re willing to share, or a request for something you’re looking for. Conversations can cover the interview process, preparation, and lessons learned. Browsing is open. To post, sign in with Google and choose a nickname. The platform is free to use; people sharing their experience can offer free or paid conversations. Contact details are exchanged only after both people confirm. I’m initially focusing on Taiwan and the US. If you’ve recently interviewed somewhere, I’d appreciate you posting an experience you’re willing to discuss. A short listing is enough—you don’t need to write a full interview review. You can also post a request if you can’t find what you need. I care about privacy personally. If the project doesn’t find a community and I decide to shut it down, I’ll delete user accounts and their associated data. You can also reach me privately at [[email protected]]

Intro-level book about quantum computing theory/hardware/applications 0 open listings
discussion=https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49628520, title=Show HN: Intro-level book about quantum computing theory/hardware/applications, Hi HN - If you're anything like me, you've seen the occasional quantum computing posts here and skimmed through them, hoping that the comments would explain the significance (or lack thereof) of the results in question. I got to the point where I just wanted to read a proper book about the field, so that I could understand what quantum computing 'is' at a high level (I'm technical, with an EE PhD, but not a physics or CS guy). Unfortunately, I found that there wasn't really a text that fit my needs. There are books that explain the math/CS theory at an appropriate level (I recommend Scott Aaronson's Quantum Computing Since Democritus and Thomas Wong's Introduction to Classical and Quantum Computing), but nothing that deals with the hardware or the applications (both of which I am very interested in). So I did a lot of self-education and paper-reading, and wrote the book I wanted to read. It's called Quantum Computing for the Confused, and it's available online (and in pdf/epub) completely free. It's fairly short (40k words) and meant to be accessible to audiences with a bit of technical literacy. I'll also note that it is 100% human generated! :) The book has four sections, each looking at a different aspect of quantum computing: its theory; how these systems are implemented in real hardware; what quantum computers may be used for; and what the industry looks like today. I think this work fills an important niche in layman-oriented writing about the field, which I think does not do a good job making itself intelligible to outsiders. If you're interested, you can find it here: https://quantumcomputingfortheconfused.com/ Happy to discuss and chat further. Cheers!

Ivx/AI Chat, AI client that doesn't track you (with a better GUI imo) 0 open listings
discussion=https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49729796, title=Show HN: Ivx/AI Chat, AI client that doesn't track you (with a better GUI imo), Since ChatGPT started pushing ads and somehow my instagram reels started getting more and more related to what I talked with ChatGPT, I decided to get rid of it for good. So I built ivx/ai Chat. I know there are many many chat interfaces out there already but this one is special. It is built exactly around what I personally prefer. It is a lightweight, browser-based client with no backend, no accounts, no analytics, and zero telemetry with apps for almost all platforms. Talks directly to the AI provider or connects with your locally running inference. It also supports WebLLM for local in-browser inference in case you dont wanna use any other provider but also supports cloud providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, and OpenRouter. I hope you like it.

JavaScript grid and pivot library built for coding agents 0 open listings
discussion=https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49643496, title=Show HN: JavaScript grid and pivot library built for coding agents, Hi, I am building a js library for grids (and pivot tables) so that coding agents can use our primitives to deliver a grid based on your specifications. I started working on this problem because data displays like grids / pivot tables are tricky to get right as more and more features pile up (features like: pagination of data, virtualization, pivots, grouped views, custom renderers, filters, sort, etc) Pre llm and coding agents, I built https://github.com/chartshq/muze (that later got acquired by mode analytics) with grammar of graphics for developers. But I have always felt a library built for agents would have a fundamentally different philosophy than the one built for devs. What does an agent first js grid library mean? The library comes up with few primitives and mental models that agents can use reliably ( https://www.superplot.dev/grid/our-approach/#principles/tabl... ) alongside the design and architecture of the grid (open closed system + data flow + relinquishing right control to agents). Thus enforcing enough abstraction for agents that produce fewer bugs in a single shot ( https://www.superplot.dev/grid/our-approach/#principles/head... ). How is it different from a lib built for devs? Unlike a lib built for devs where the abstaction layer is much closer to humans (config driven like highcharts / aggrid), I belive having a different layer of abstraction from carefully defined building blocks and stable contracts help agents build reliable and stable outputs. For majority of the usecases, a user can ask an agent to build a particular representation of the grid (without waiting for the library to support it internally) to their liking. The agent would then go and build the grid with given constructs acting as guardrails. (Ofcourse there is a limit to that, for example if you want to do something which is outside the scope of mental model) What does it support? - Headless grid with virtualization

discussion=https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49708628, title=Show HN: Jinfer – AI inference engine for the JVM. AI in a jar, Hi HN, Some would call AI on the JVM quixotic. And so, Quixotic AI was born. jinfer is an inference engine for the JVM: chat, vision, audio, embeddings, reranking, and TTS. No Python runtime, no ONNX, no Docker containers, no sidecar process, no IPC. Finally, AI in a jar. The stack underneath is built for the JVM rather than bolted onto it: toknroll: pure-Java tokenizers, zero dependencies gguf / safetensors: read and write llama.cpp and HuggingFace model formats jam: quantized matmul kernels, competitive with llama.cpp on CPU jota: Tensor API targeting Java, C, CUDA, HIP, Metal, OpenCL, and Mojo It ships with integrations for Spring AI and LangChain4j, and is compatible with GraalVM Native Image for low-overhead, self-contained binaries with millisecond startup. This is an early release (CPU only): I'd especially like feedback on the API surface. Site: https://qxotic.ai Repo: https://github.com/qxoticai/qxotic

Kaflow Search 0 open listings
discussion=https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49726447, title=Show HN: Kaflow Search – A desktop tool for locally indexed Kafka message search, For a long time, I’ve used Kafka for services for some purpose. like tracing user action log, event sourcing propagation pipeline step processing and so on. Whenever I use Kafka, I need to set up kafka ecosystem such as, ELK ( Elasticsearch + Logstash + Kibana) for search Kafka messages for service operation, issue trace. and Kafka sink connector for some data forward other persistent DB, and ksqlDB( or Flink ) for count and monitor event stream. With additional infra and software One day, a thought suddenly crossed my mind. That is “Basically Kafka is processing message stream sequentially, with a consumer. It means If I don’t know what the partition and offset of “needle” is, I have to find needle sequentially from beginning. but if I know Kafka message partition and offset, Can I find and access data directly like other DBMS?” ELK is not necessary on my service at that time. Just I need to search trace events and it is in Kafka topic message. All I need to know is where the data I want to find is My desktop and your desktop are too powerful, expensive to use only for web browser operation and AI question agent. Let’s use local disk and local application for indexing storage and search engine about Kafka message. This local-first concept is implemented as “Kaflow Search desktop tool” If you don’t need to keep data for a long time or permanently You don’t have to go through the hassle of installing and managing ELK or other Kafka ecosystem infrastructure Just keep and sync index with Kafka cluster server And find messages you want easily with just this tool installed It will save your operation time. When operating company services, The costs of installing server, managing additional ELK/Kafka Connect, ksqlDB instances didn’t come out of my own pocket so I felt free to spend my time and server resources to set additional data pipeline up. but if it is my own service that I afford, I can’t help saving my server cost. I can’t afford the additional infra costs from cloud service (like AWS) I’m not a rich developer, who just has a laptop to develop software. I’ll make the most of my laptop resources, until my service generates enough money, and then I can handle additional server costs. I’ll only use Kafka and this tool on my service, before I really need ELK and other Kafka ecosystem. I dedicate this rich client Kafka tool to developers who, like me, are poor. GitHub : https://github.com/whsoul/kaflow-search => Download From release assets ( macOS, Windows ) - https://github.com/whsoul/kaflow-search/releases/tag/v0.1.3 From brew ( macOS ) - brew install --cask whsoul/tap/kaflow-search => Download demo From release assets ( macOS, Windows ) - https://github.com/whsoul/kaflow-search/releases/tag/demo-v0... It does only read operation, not managing function ( such as delete, create topic, repartition cluster topic). It normally only reads once messages that you select, and read local-first index for search your message. So feel free to install this. But it is not developer signed.. (Sorry because I’m poor developer..) Please follow this install guide ( https://github.com/whsoul/kaflow-search#install ) about untrusted developer warning when install and first launch.
